Tryouts for Field Hockey will begin Monday, February 15!  Please make sure you have completed the following so you are cleared to participate:

1. Register at Herndon Sports! This is a NEW requirement. This is the link: It is also available on the HHS athletics website. This link will register you for tryouts and collect important information, including emergency contacts, etc. (If you are playing a winter sport, you do not need to register again, please just add field hockey to your list.)

2. This new registration is also the platform to complete Concussion Education, which is required for participation and requires ONE parent to complete as well as the athlete.

3. Submit your VHSL Physical to Lisa Petruzzi ( our Trainer, via email.

Field Hockey Update July 6 2020

HHS Field Hockey Update July 6, 2020

Definitive information regarding the Fall 2020 sports season has not been issued by VHSL or FCPS.  As of now, tryouts begin Monday, August 3rd.  Anyone interested in trying out needs a VHSL Physical dated AFTER May 1, 2020; an Emergency Care Card; and to have completed Concussion Education.  All that information can be found on the FCPS website under: “Activities/Student Athletics.”

FCPS has approved “Yellow Day” guidelines for out of season sports conditioning.  Strict protocols must be followed including staggered arrivals/departures, temperature checks, social distancing, etc.  All activities are on site and include NO EQUIPMENT, they are conditioning only.  At this point, HHS fields have not been released for use due to surface replacement and construction.  We anticipate this changing in the next few weeks.

In the meantime, please fill out this Google Doc so we can collect emails and information from those wanting to tryout for field hockey.  Please forward to anyone you know who is interested.

If you are interested in getting started conditioning on your own, or continue what you are already doing, please visit the below website put together by FCPS Athletic Trainers to help you get started.

Moving forward updates will be posted to the Herndon Athletics website Varsity Field Hockey page.
