Herndon Football Pride Points 2016
Pride points demonstrate your commitment to your personal improvement, and your commitment to our football team. Starting and finishing a Winter/Spring Sport is the best way to guarantee yourself a spot on the Varsity football team. Joining the Varsity football team is a privilege, not a right or guarantee; and you will have to earn your spot. If you don’t know what sport to play, join the Track team, where the focus is getting you faster and stronger. We only want COMPETITORS on our football team. Make sure to take nothing for granted in your efforts to make the team.

Creating a Great Hudl Highlight Tape
*If you don’t catch the eye of the coach watching your tape in the first 3-5 clips, he will not watch the rest of it!
Time Limit: Your highlight tape should be no more than 7 minutes in length. If it’s longer than that, you’ve got too much stuff on there. Trim it down!
Music: Best Option- NO MUSIC. If you choose to put music on your highlight tape, it must be 100% clean (no swearing) and it should be appropriate (not full of “bleeps”, shouldn’t be a song about smoking weed etc..). Remember, college coaches will be watching it, you do not want to offend them.
Picture: Should be a picture of your face, clearly showing who you are, wearing your game jersey. Nothing else matters!
Highlight Tape Name: “Soph/Junior Highlights” or “2014 Highlights”
1st Clip: MUST BE AN EYE CATCHER! PUT YOUR ABSOLUTE BEST CLIP FIRST!
Info Slide 1: Academics (if you have academics that you want to share…)
Your cumulative GPA
ACT/SAT test scores (if you’ve taken them)
National Honor Society or other impressive academic awards
2nd/3rd Clip: MUST BE AN EYE CATCHER! PUT YOUR BEST CLIPS AT THE BEGINNING!
Info Slide 2: Individual Awards
All-League/All-Area/All-State Honors (1st or 2nd Team only, what position, and what year)
Ex: Narrows 3A: 2012 1st Team All-League Offensive Line
4th/5th Clip: PUT CLIPS OF YOURSELF DOING SOMETHING ATHLETIC LIKE DUNKING A BASKETBALL OR POWER CLEANING 275 POUNDS! Jumping over another player. Something that shows your athleticism/strength.
Info Slide 3: Your Best Season Statistics
Accurate Narrows Season Statistics. Don’t overwhelm them. Choose only 2-3 of your best statistics.

9.7 Yards Per Carry Avg.
6th/7th Clip: BEST FOOTBALL CLIPS! Must catch his eye and keep his attention

Overall Highlight Clips: Suggestions
SPECIAL TEAMS ARE A GREAT TOOL FOR SHOWCASING YOUR PHYSICALITY!
If you are not on the kickoff team, or kickoff return team, you might want to try and fight for a spot on those units. They are a great way for you to showcase your athletic ability. You are sprinting, changing directions, and showing overall athleticism!
Always spot-shadow yourself. It is best if you use the same spot-shadow for the whole clip. Choose one and stick with it. Make sure the spot-shadow shows you clearly.
Arrow’s may be better for lineman types because of the amount of people surrounding you.
Your first 3-4 clips are going to be the most important. If the coaches don’t like what they see, they will just turn it off. You should choose the best clips you have available of your best abilities.
These clips should also show you CLEARLY. Don’t choose the one’s where there’s a big mess of people and you can’t really see who makes the tackle, even if it was you.
If you are a tough running back, you should choose the clips that show you breaking numerous tackles.
If you are a speedy guy w/ cutbacks, choose the clips that show you breaking long runs and cutting or out-running other people.
If you are a big body wide receiver, show the clips of you going up and getting a ball at the high point or using your body to box out a defensive back, especially around the end zone!
If you are a lineman, show the best clips of you pancaking a guy or sacking the QB in the open field and crushing him.
If you’re a tackler type, show the clips that have you blowing somebody up in the open field and tackling the man.
If you’re a Defensive Back, choose the clips of you going up and getting an interception (not just the clip where the QB makes a bad throw and you pick it off)
DO NOT INCLUDE THIS:
If you are a Wide Receiver, Running back, or other skill position, NEVER INCLUDE A CLIP THAT SHOWS YOU GETTING CAUGHT FROM BEHIND! You do not want to appear “slow” on camera! Include the clips where you are breaking away from people!
*MAKE YOUR HIGHLIGHT TAPE PUBLIC SO THAT OTHER PEOPLE CAN VIEW IT ON THE HUDL WEBSITE. IF THEY DO A “GOOGLE” SEARCH FOR YOUR VIDEO, WE WANT IT TO SHOW UP AND WE WANT THE LINK TO BE AVAILABLE TO PUBLIC FOR VIEWING*
