It is with great pleasure that Herndon High School announces Daniel Coghlan as the Varsity Football Coach.
Dan is a graduate of Herndon High School (2000) where he was a student athlete. He was voted to the first team All-Concorde District in football, wrestling and baseball during his senior year. After high school he attended Waynesburg University in Waynesburg, Pa. where he played both football and baseball. At Waynesburg he was nominated All-Pac Conference in baseball (2002) and football (2004) and was a two time captain of both the football and baseball teams.
Upon graduation from Waynesburg University (Bachelor of Science / Human Services) Dan returned to Herndon High School where he has served as an Instructional Assistant, Special Education Teacher, System of Support Administrator and currently serves as the Assistant Director of Student Activities. He completed his Master's in Education from the American College of Education in 2012.
In addition to his teaching and administration responsibilities, he has served Herndon's athletic teams as an assistant coach for our football ( 2004 -2012, 2014-2017) , baseball (2009-2015) and golf (2012-2014) programs. Dan believes that all Hornets are capable of success! He's passionate about athletics, loves working with young students and is dedicated to Herndon High School and the greater community.
Dan's father, Don Coghlan, was a career teacher and coach at Herndon High School, so Dan has been on the sidelines at Herndon his entire life. Congratulations, Dan! We welcome you to our sidelines as our head football coach. Go Hornets!
